I agree. Alex has accepted our suggestions for improvement very
graciously, thank you Alex. Once he and whoever else looks at it
(Joy, et al), we should publish it.

I'm not a book-burner here, my friends. I'm not trying to censor. I
just want to make it more than a Virus-Writing-HOWTO and into a
Virus-Attack-And-Defense-HOWTO.

Adding information, not removing it, is not censorship.

This whole controversy gave me a lot to think about, regarding what
kind of content I would feel uncomfortable publishing. It boils down
to anything that would harm the LDP or Linux users. A pure how to
write a virus HOWTO still seems to fit that bill. Not publishing any
particular document at the LDP because we have such concerns is also
in *my* opinion, not censorship. As the press coverage shows, we are
not the gatekeepers to publication.

And Alex, again, I am sorry I initially opposed publishing the
document. I made the assumption that you would not be willing to
accomodate the concerns of the LDP, meaning not me but the many others
who have spoken up. That was wrong of me, and I'm sorry.

Some weeks it looks like Redmond feels entitled to capture not just part of
what we save, but all of it. That just isn't going to fly with corporate
America forever. When your margins are more sensitive to Bill Gates'
pricing whims than they are the price of oil, that's an untenable position
for a large company to be in.
