OpenJade assumed Jade's code when J. Clark "abandoned" it.

Some people told me that SGML Tools V2+ (or 3?) can handle DocBook.

Not from RH.

These are tools developed in some phases of processing
utilities. Don't bother with whom coded them (Caldera, RH, SuSE,
Conectiva, Debian and other were involved) but in how recent they
are. 

Use docbook-utils.
