My experience has been that about 9 out of 10 authors don't give a
shit. If I ask them to consider GFDL or OPL, they almost always say
sure. I've asked on probably about 20 documents or so.
When they *do* want something else, it has usually been public domain,
with one or two exceptions who opted for BSD. I've had nobody yet just
say a flat out no. Of course I haven't specifically gone after large
documents, usually old documents because they are unmaintained and I
want to assign a new maintainer.
