I've been a strong advocate for linuxdoc. It's about as easy to learn
as wiki markup. But for someone who knows a wiki markup it would
likely be better to use that than learn linuxdoc. See my howto on how
simple LinuxDoc is:
http://en.tldp.org/HOWTO/Howtos-with-LinuxDoc.html. If it's already
in html, linuxdoc might be a good format to use since it is something
like the simplest use of html format.

Regarding thinking that LDP (prior to the wiki) standardized on
DocBook. This is not really true but a lot of people thought it was.
The Author's guide talks a lot about DocBook and mentions LinuxDoc
almost like it was an afterthought. Thus a reader of this guide gains
an understanding of DocBook with almost no understanding of LinuxDoc
and may reason that since little was said about LinuxDoc that it must
not be of much significance. This situation is corrected in my draft
Author's howto (2 pages).
