Jorge,
John Daily sent a response that made me aware of these (I assume you saw
it as well):
<authorgroup>
<author role="maintainer" condition="current"> ... </author>
<author role="author" condition="current">...</author>
<author role="author" condition="original"> ... </author>
<author role="author" condition="former"> ... </author>
</authorgroup>
(Hmmm, and I jumped to the conclusion, but I could be wrong, that I
could use "former" as a condition for "maintainer" as well as "author".)
These, in combination with the things you've mentioned, like:
If he's an editor, then use that element.
If he's a coordinator, I see it as "<collab
class='coordinator'>...</collab>".
... should provide all the "elements" needed to support what I'm looking
for.
Then it's a question of rendering.
Since then, others (Greg Ferguson, Dan York) have expressed an intent to
fix the rendering (somehow). To me, this is a satisfactory approach for
now. (I don't have my own proposal for the rendering at this time, so
I'm waiting to see what someone else comes up with. If I have a comment
or a problem at that time, it can be addressed then.)
Thanks for asking!
