I ran the grep program (file is html*) to count how many HOWTOS are
updated (or new) each year:
for i in `seq -s " " 2000 2009`; do echo -n "$i "; grep -c $i html* ; done
And got:
2000 79
2001 120 (actually about 70 --see note below)
2002 81
2003 44
2004 49
2005 23
2006 21
2007 23
2008 8
2009 12
But 2001 is in error since it includes about 50 pre-2000 HOWTOs that
were postdated to Apr-2001 (the Apr-2001 count is 54).
So it looks like a secular decline in LDP publishing but this year is
off to a better start than last year, partly due to the wiki.
