I think the authors retain copyrights to their work, at least that is 
what several articles I pulled up stated... nonetheless if the long-term 
viability of howtoforge is an issue, he might want to look at the 
wikiversity's project linux

We might all like its GNU Free Documentation License and status as a 
501(c)(3) organization better.
