Wait... pdftex seems to give good output in PDF form.
(I think it does some font conversion magic or...
something. Regardless, the PDFs look fine.) And note
that the PDFs, even with the *ugly* bitmapped fonts,
print just fine. The problem is displaying them, which
Acrobat sucks at.)

dvips generates good PostScript from a simple TeX run,
anyway. (Of course, running it through ps2pdf yields
ugly ugly bitmapped PDF.)

Are the fonts really that much of a consideration? I
thought they only added (at most) 30k to the PS file.
