I think there's a misunderstanding going on here.

I think some people are talking about, e.g., using
WordPerfect's XML editing mode, which makes spiffy
DocBook. Of course, it looks like DocBook while you're
editing it...

I think some other people are talking about writing
pretty "thirty-six point green flashing headers!!"
documents and expecting them to be translated into
DocBook through some kind of weird alchemical export
feature.

Is this clarifying things?
