Yes, this has been badly needed.

Speaking for myself, I think it's important that LDP continue to host
reference copies of all LDP documentation, such that all LDP docs be
findable _at_ the LDP's own site and all full mirrors.
Fortunately, your use of GFDL 1.2 allows LDP to do that.
I notice that
http://linux-raid.osdl.org/index.php?title=Overview&printable=yes does
not state the works authors, nor does it have a copyright statement.
Nor does it show a document version number. Nor does it include the
text of GFDL 1.2 (which a noice at the bottom of the piece claims covers
the work, and hyperlinks to the licence): Reprints/derivatives
including any that LDP might decide to host would have to add the
licence text.
Other than that, you should probably look at the LDP Author Guide for
more tips and procedure for submitting a HOWTO. Telling LDP "I've
written a HOWTO, so please hyperlink to it" is generous but is not the
right way. ;->
