I routinely convert my XML to various formats after I edit my work, using a
shell script. I had so many problems using DSSSL that I got rid of it
altogether and now I use only XSLT and fop. No more openjade. The process is
much quicker than using DSSSL. I never tried to get RTF out of it, but
apparently Apache FOP (which I use) supports conversion to RTF:
http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/0.91/output.html#rtf
But switching to an entirely different toolchain is likely something you did
not want to hear :)
