I have to admit, I've never heard the term "Ockers"! Is that like when all
my American friends make fun of my Canadian citizenship by calling me a
Canuck? hehehe... I like to tell people who aren't from there that I was born
en route from the igloo to the hospital on a dog sled... NOT! Some people
actually believe me!
I agree with your statement on speaking without gender. In fact, I've even
found that with a little rearranging, you can actually remove a few
unnecessary words from a sentence when you remove gender!
Since I am also a fiction writer as well, I get opportunities to write from
many different perspectives. I enjoy technical writing because I get to
write from my POV directly to the reader, which is a nice change for me!
Cheers!
